Stephen Ellis Greer, Sr. (10/22/1944 — 8/15/2024) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love. Unfailingly positive and encouraging in his interactions with others, Stephen spent a lifetime loving, creating, and sharing art. He practiced and taught drawing, painting, and dance, championed arts organizations, and enjoyed a long career as a hairdresser. He looked for beauty in the world and found it wherever he went. Stephen is survived by partner Stan Allen, of New Bern; son, Stephen Greer, Jr., (Wendy), of Raleigh; daughter, Amy Burke (Patrick), of Garner; brother, Robert Greer (Ciscelia), of Garner; grandchildren, Whitney Greer (fiancée Delia), Courtney Greer-Brown (Matthew), and MacKenzie Greer; and great-grandchildren, Stella, Charlie, and Helen. He is preceded in death by wife, Peggy Greer; sister, Raye Hackett; brother, Allen Hale; and parents, Ellis and Jewell Greer. A celebration of life will be held at Stephen’s home in Garner on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
